About Conviction
Conviction has been a PvE raiding guild since the server's inception, and is dedicated to educating its tanks in all the possible ways to "unexpectedly" kill its rogues during an encounter. That said, since Wrath of the Lich King, enhancement shamans have also been added to the list of fodder.
Our raid times are 19:30-23:59 Wednesday, Sunday, Monday, with an optional night Thursdays - 20:00-22:30pm. All times are in-line with that on the server.
The trial period is nominally 4-6 weeks - during this time you will only be allowed to loot items which higher-ranking guild members pass on. You will be evaluated during this period, and will receive feedback during your trial. Only under exceptional circumstances will a trial period be extended - usually due to untapped potential - the terms of which will be given to the player at this time.
What we expect:
You must put effort into your trial. If you know you're going on holiday, or can't commit to the trial period, either wait until you can, or don't bother applying to Conviction in the first place.
You must also be prepared to stick around. If you know you're only going to be able to play for a month or two, or are considering stopping altogether, do not waste our time. We're looking for dedicated players, who can be relied on in future. When it boils down to it, we'd all rather raid with friends - quitters and guildhoppers don't fit the description.
You will need to sustain a high attendance ratio, and be able to consistently attend the same raids each week. We do not, however, expect 100% attendance - we realise there are real-life commitments that need to be handled, but we do ask for ample notice beforehand.
You absolutely have to know your class. We are not here to introduce you to raiding - if you're incapable of contributing intelligently to discussions on, for example, sustained threat generation, or overall mana efficiency for single-point-of-damage bosses, then chances are this isn't the guild for you.
You need to show us that you're capable of getting the most out of your character - we understand that the magical drop you've been waiting for may not have come, but that is not an excuse for skipping enchants on your gear. You should always have a specific idea on how you wish to improve your character, as well as being able to convey that idea to others for discussion.
You need to be able to cope with criticism - it's highly likely that we have people who have a better knowledge on aspects of the game than you currently do, so having a thick skin as well being able to keep an open mind will help you (and your application) in the long run.
You absolutely will not be a drama-queen. We have enough of those already - if you feel like you deserve loot or a raidspot more than someone else, or any other silly little frivolities, then your trial will most likely be cut short.
The above ties in with etiquette - guild chat isn't your friend's instant messaging session. If you wish to have any sort of lengthy conversation, English (not 3ngl!sh) will be the language used. Memes such as 'lol', 'rofl', et.al. will be tolerated to some degree - but don't make a point of using them after every response.
If you want your application to even be considered, you need to put effort into it. A lot of the questions on the application are open-ended for a reason - we want to see how you can adapt to something out of the ordinary, rather than copy/pasting the same responses to five different guilds hoping for some bites. | |
